.asia
.asia ; is a generic higher field suggested by the DotAsia organization, recorded mainly by Afilias. It was approved by ICANN on October 19th, 2006 as a financed high level field, but the recording for fields of English language was not planned for the six to nine months which followed. It will be used as regional field with the companies, the organizations, and to the individuals based in the area of Asia, of Australia, and the Pacific.
The existing ccTLD .as is reserved for American Samoa, although it accepts the foreign sites.
