Events
- the Egyptians of the Pharaon Néchao II invade Syria-Palestine to support the last Assyrian king Ashur-ubalit II which resists Harran against Nabopolassar and the Mèdes. Josias, king of Juda, tries to be opposed in advance of the army of Néchao with Megiddo. It is killed in this battle (May - June). The Egyptians occupy Karkemish. Néchao subjects the Palestine and the Syria until the Euphrate.
- Reign of Joachaz (Yehôachaz) then Yehôyaqîm (fine in -598), Kings de Juda.
- With died of Josias, the assembly of the people proclaims his son Joachaz junior. Three months later, Néchao the captive fact, imposes a tribute on Juda, and establishes as king Elyaqîm, oldest son of Josias, which changes its name into Yehôyaqîm (Joïaqim).
- Yehôyaqîm recognizes the suzerainty of Egypt and pay the tribute while raising a special tax. After the victory of Nabuchodonosor over Néchao with Karkemish and of the catch of Ascalon (-604), Yehôyaqîm to him is subjected three years.
