- May - June: Nabuchodonosor, after two years of unfruitful attempts, beats the king of Egypt to the Bataille of Karkemish. It advances in Palestine until Péluse, at the border with Egypt, but regains quickly Babylon (23 days) when it learns death from his father to be made there crown (September 23rd).
- September 23rd: Nabuchodonosor II becomes king of Babylon after the death of his/her father Nabopolassar.
- Nabuchodonosor II seizes first once Jerusalem.
- Nabuchodonosor continues the work of restoration engaged by his/her father. He reorganizes the capital, Babylon, and engages of important work in the southernmost cities, in particular with Ur, Uruk, Larsa, Kish, Borsippa and Sippar.
