Europe

  • probable Foundation of Massalia (Marseilles) by Greek originating in the town of Phocée (in Greece).
  • Foundation of Capoue by the Etruscan . They also occupy Nola and Pompéi and base in Campanie Dodécapole copied on the model of the federal organization.
  • Syracuse founds Camarina and thus controls the majority of the agricultural space of the south-east of the Sicily.
  • Salamine is conquered by the Athéniens on the city of Mégare.

The Middle East

  • Beginning of the reign of Yehôyakîn, king de Juda (December March -598/-597)
    • After the failure of Nabuchodonosor II against Egypt (-601/-600), Yehôyaqîm of Juda, in spite of the warnings of the prophet Jérémie, refuses to pay tribute with Nabuchodonosor. Occupied to reorganize his army, the king of Babylon is satisfied to send bands of Chaldéens, Edomites and Ammonites to badger the Judaea. In December -598, while Nabuchodonosor goes on the Palestine, Yehôyaqîm dies, perhaps assassinated and is replaced by its young person Yehôyakîn wire who reigns only three months.
