• the quaestorship is opened with the plebeian with Rome.

• the Carthaginian seize Sélinonte and Himère (> 408 av. J-C. answering the call of the city of Ségeste which was believed threatened by Sélinonte.

• the troops of the general Magonide Hannibal, recruited in Spain and Libya, take Sélinonte quickly and massacre the population of Himère, after the withdrawal of the troops syracusaines of Dioclès. Hannibal re-embarks towards Carthage.
• the strategist syracusain Hermocrate, banished for its sympathies with oligarchy, is presented in front of Syracuse with 2000 mercenaries but does not manage to raise the sentence of exile which strikes it. It leaves then for Western Sicily, rebuilt the fortifications of Sélinonte and plunders the punic cities of Motyè and Panormos (Palermo).
