- the Punic ones take again the offensive in Sicily under the control of Hamilcar Barca, named Carthaginian commander-in-chief in Sicily. Cut off from the Heircté mount initially, then the Mount Éryx then, it prevents the Romans from obtaining the decision.
Iran
- Tiridate succeeds his/her brother Arsace as king of the Parthes (fine of reign in -217). Benefitting from the fights between Lagides and Séleucides, it seizes the Hyrcanie. It raises there contributions which enable him to recruit mercenaries among the wandering people of the areas bordering. It overcomes Séleucos II Kallinikos which tried to recover the dissenting territories. Following this victory, Tiridate takes the title of king and transfers his capital to Hécatompylos.
