  • Bérénice II of Egypt devotes one of its wicks of hair to Aphrodite, to protect her husband Ptolémée III during a forwarding in Syria. The hair having disappeared, the astronomer Conon of Samos affirmed that they had been changed into star and gave to a constellation the name of Chevelure of Bérénice.
