(9969) Braille

(9969) Braille is a small asteroid crossing the orbit of Mars. It was discovered on May 27th, 1992 by Eleanor F. Helin and Kenneth J. Lawrence with the Observatoire of the Mount Palomar and named according to Louis Braille, the inventor of the alphabet for blind men.

Braille measurement 2,2 out of 0.6 kilometers. Just like (4) Vesta, it belongs to the type V. Certain astronomers suggested that it could be a question of a piece of Vesta detached after an impact.

July 29th, 1999, the space probe Deep Space 1 passed to 26 kilometers of the asteroid. Engineering problems with the camera of the edge made it possible to recover only fuzzy stereotypes, but which make it possible to guess its form.
