(60558) Echeclus
(60558) Echeclus is a centaur, a Astéroïde whose Orbite crosses that of the external Planets Solar system. He was discovered by Spacewatch in 2000. He bears the name of the Greek hero Echeclus, wire of Agénor, which was killed by Achille.
Its provisional name was 2000 EC98.
In December 2005, a cometary hair was detected on this body. The Minor Planet Center then gave him cometary designation 174P/Echeclus.
Echeclus just like (2060) Chiron is thus catalogued at the same time like Astéroïde and Comet.
April 11th, 2006, it was observed that Echeclus involved a large cloud of dust. The astronomers supposed that this one could be caused by an impact or an explosive release of the volatile substances.
