The Asteroid Astrée (5 Astraea) car its name (“girl-star”) of the girl of Zeus and THEMIS (the latter has also its asteroid, 24 THEMIS). Astrée and its mother was personifications of justice. Astrée was the immortal last to leave the world of the mortals at the end of the Golden age, becoming the constellation of the Vierge while the balance of justice (its principal attribute) became the constellation of the Balance.

Astronomer amateur and employee of the post office, Karl Ludwig Hencke sought 4 Vesta when he discovered Astrée. The king of Prussia granted to him an annual pension of 300 $ (in dollars of 1968) for his discovery.
