(3) Junon

See also: Junon (homonymy)

(3) Junon ( in (3) Juno ) is the third Astéroïde discovered. It draws its name from Junon, the woman of Jupiter. Harding would have discovered it using simple a Télescope of 5 cm opening .

The orbit of Junon changed into 1839, perhaps because of an impact. Images of Junon obtained recently by the Télescope Hooker of the Observatoire of the Mount Wilson show an immense crater 100 km in diameter, as if a mouthful had been taken in Junon.
