(2101) Adonis was one of the first Astéroïde S passing very close to the Ground to be observed. He was discovered by Eugene Delporte on February 12th, 1936 and was baptized name of Adonis, young person and beautiful liked hunter of Aphrodite in Greek mythology.

Adonis is supposed to roughly measure 1 kilometer diameter and revolves around the Sun in a little more than two years and half.

In the approach which led to its initial discovery, few observations could be made to calculate an orbit, and Adonis was lost until in 1977 where it was redécouvert by Charles T. Kowal. Adonis is the second asteroid of the category Apollo with being discovered (after (1862) Apollo itself).

He will pass to less than 30 million km of the Earth six times to the 21e century, nearest in 2036 to 5,3 million km.

He is refers to this asteroid in the cartoon of Hergé One went on the Moon , ventures Tintin: the Capitaine Haddock is inadvertently pulled by the attraction of this small body ( which to in no case could not be where drew Hergé ).
