The Kanji 道 is read Dō (with an O long). It means “ the way, the way, the route ”.
It is a philosophical concept. This word comes from the word Chinese CAT.
It is found in the name of the modern martial arts: martial arts dō ( Budō ) are the educational ones which inculcate an art of living and lead to the harmony with the universe, in opposition to martial arts jutsu which are simply techniques of war ( bujutsu ) intended to overcome, to destroy.
