(Unicode U+264F) is the Symbole for the Constellation of the Zodiaque of the Scorpion .

The Scorpion is the object of several legends according to the Greek Mythologie:

  • It would act of the scorpion sent by Gaïa (or Héra) to kill the hunter Orion. Thus it is opposite with the constellation of Orion, rising in summer when Orion lies down.
  • Of other versions suggests that Apollon sent the scorpion by jealousy towards the attention that Orion carried to Artémis.

In Alchemy, this symbol indicates the process of Séparation by Filtration.

Sometimes a graphic alternative makes point the tail of the scorpion downwards.
