Details
… I Care Because You Do is often regarded as an album hinge in the career of James: the pieces which it contains are very different from preceding works of James, marked by the Acid, the Ambient and more generally the Techno. The album is based on long and repetitive pieces played on Synthétiseur S Analogique S and boxes at rates/rhythms and at the time of the cords. … I Care Because You C mark the end of the first analogical period of James, its works of the following decade, until Analord, will be made up on computers. The small pocket of the album is, according to the appropriations of the album, a Auto-portrait of James.
In a single way in the career of James, the creation dates of the pieces are indicated: those were composed in 1990,1993 and 1994.
On the track “Cow Cud Has Twin”, at approximately 45 seconds of the beginning of the piece, the left track contains in bottom a robot-like voice which repeats several times “aphex twin”, then known as “I care because you C”. After the repetition of this sentence the laughter heard at the beginning of piece reappears. These sentences were generated by the software PlainTalk , using three votes characteristic of the program: Bels , Hysterical and Bubbles . This software was also used on the “List Respect” found on Individual Ventolin and 51/13 Collection .
On “Like One You Slags! ”, the various voices come from extracts of film pronographic Fantasia . Others samples of film will be used thereafter by James in the piece Fantasia on the maxis Joyrex J9i and Joyrex J9ii (under alias Caustic Window).
