Žydrūnas Ilgauskas

Žydrūnas Ilgauskas (born the June 5th 1975 with Kaunas in Soviet socialist Republic of Lithuania, Soviet Union) is a player Lithuania N of Basket-ball. It is currently the titular pivot of the team NBA of the Cavaliers of Cleveland and one of best at its post office of the conference Is.

The NBA

Ilgauskas was selected with the twentieth position by the Riders at the time of the draft 1995. Ilgauskas very quickly was done noticed by its solids services in match but also its repeated wounds (mainly with the foot) which slowed down its assertion like one of the best pivots in the world. Ilgauskas missed all the season 1996 - 1997, almost all the season 1998 - 1999 and did not play which 24 meetings at the time of the season 1999 - 2000.

The brittleness of its foot is due to the weight and the size (2 m 21) of Ilgauskas. After several operations of surgery, it seems that, by limiting its time of play per meeting, its foot is not prone any more to fractures.

In three full seasons and some meetings in the three others, Ilgauskas put on average 14,4 points, took 7,5 rebounds and countered 1,8 shootings per meeting for 28,3 minutes per meeting and that on 335 meetings including 295 in the 5 major.

Ilgauskas was elected twice for a NBA All-Star Range in 2003 and 2005. It appears for the second time in play-off in the NBA with the Riders at the time of the season 2005-2006. Its first appearance in eliminatory series dates from the season 1997-1998 against the Pacers of Indiana.

In selection

Ilguaskas was often awaited by its selection, but always declined the offer. Thus, it carried the Lithuanian shirt in 1995 for 3 matches only, then to decide to refuse all proposals. It returns in selection in 2007 for the Eurobasket.
