Żyrardów

Żyrardów is a city of the center of the Poland, the capital of a Powiat (district), in the Voïvodie de Mazovie since 1999, and previously in the Voïvodie of Skierniewice. It is located on the Pisia.

Its name comes from the name of the inventor of the spinning machines the flax, Philippe de Girard, French engineer born with Lourmarin with which the city is twinned, at the origin of the spinning mills which governed the creation of the city.
