Żydowski Związek Wojskowy (ŻZW) - (france Jewish Military Union) - a Jewish military organization in formed Poland in November 1939 by the ex-officers of the Polish army of Jewish origin: Józef Celmajster, Henryk Lipszyc, Kałmen Mendelson, Paweł Frenkel, Leon Rodal and Dawid Wdowiński. According to the sources, ZZW was directed either by Dawid Wdowiński or by Dawid Moryc Apfelbaum and Paweł Frenkel. In the first phase of its activity ZZW coordinated the passage of the Jewish combatants towards France and England towards the Polish armed forces.
At the origin of rising of the Ghetto of Warsaw in 1943 when almost all the members of the organization perished. At their side resistant Polish of the Armia Krajowa led by Henryk Iwanski fought. Dawid Moryc (Mieczyslaw) Apfelbaum was promoted postmortem with the rank of lieutenant-colonel of the Polish army by the Polish government in exile in London.
