Škoda is a Czech make of car , property of the group Volkswagen AG since 1991.

Škoda belongs to the group VAG as well as Volkswagen, Audi, Seat, Bentley, Lamborghini and Bugatti.
History
In the beginning the automobile mark was called (Vaclav) Laurin and (Vaclav) Klement, of the name of those which founded it in 1895. It was repurchased following financial problems and of a fire in 1925 by (Emil) Škoda old industry group of the Empire Austro-Hungarian, producing armament in particular: the Factories Škoda (in Czech Language: Škodovy závody) .
For the communist period, the mark knew one period of fold.
Its repurchase by the group Volkswagen, in 1991, gave him a new dash and the markets of the Western Europe enabled him to penetrate, by offering vehicles of a quality comparable with that of the other marks of the group, at low prices with those of the vehicles produced in Germany.
Škoda produced 556.347 vehicles in 2006, figure which the mark wants to carry to 1 million in 2012 (objectives 616.000 units in 2007 and to 800.000 in 2010, by developing the sales on the emerging markets like China, Russia and India). Škoda was the most profitable mark of the Volkswagen group in the first half of 2007, with a trading margin of 8,5%, against 2,1% for VW and 4,6% for Audi.
