Şanlıurfa (province)

The province of Şanlıurfa is one of the 81 Province S (in Turkish: it , in the singular, and iller in the plural) of the Turkey.

Its Turkish prefecture (: valiliği ) is in the éponyme city Şanlıurfa.

Geography

Its surface is of 18.584 km ².

Population

With the census of 2000, the province was populated approximately 1.436.956 inhabitants, that is to say a Population density of approximately 77 hab. /km ².

Administration

The province is managed by a Turkish prefect (: vali )

Subdivisions

The province is divided into 11 Turkish districts (: ilçe , in the singular): Akçakale, Birecik, Bozova, Ceylanpınar, Halfeti, Harran, Hilvan, Şanlıurfa, Siverek, Suruç and Viranşehir.
