Śruti

Shruti (श्रुति in Devanāgarī) this term female Sanskrit means hearing; ear; tradition, doctrines, knowledge; crowned teaching, revealed knowledge (opposite of Smṛti, texts of the tradition).
In the Hindouisme, Shruti is the name given to the texts considered as revelations received by the Rishi (wise) of the oldest times. Shruti means in Sanskrit the fact of hearing, from where " text entendu" or " text révélé".
