Þingvallavatn
The Thingvallavatn (in) is a lake in the south-west of the Iceland.
With its surface of 84 km2, it is more the big lake (natural) in Iceland. Its maximum depth is of 114 Mr.
In the north of the lake, the Parliament of Iceland Alþing, one of oldest of the world, was founded in 930.
Le lake belongs to the National park of Þingvellir. The islands in the lake are of origin volcanic. As the park belongs to the dorsal zone of of plates which crosses all the island of south-west to the North-East, one can see much cracks of which largest is the throat Almannagjá . earthquakes are thus rather frequent.
