Övertorneå
Övertorneå (in the past Matarengi , in Finnish Matarenki ) is the administrative center of the commune of the even name in Sweden. The village is located at approximately 20 kilometers in the south of the Polar circle in the valley of the Torne. The village faces the mount Aavasaksa on other side of the river, in Finland. A bridge connects the two countries in the vicinity immediate of Övertorneå.
The village is known for its small church out of wooden of the 17th century.
One finds there one of the terminals of the geodetic Arc of Struve, classified with the world heritage.
