Ólafur Elíasson
Ólafur Elíasson (born with Copenhagen in 1967) is a Contemporary artist Danish which passed its childhood in Iceland and which lives and works with Berlin. The work of Beauty , of 1993, of Olafur Eliasson consists of a sprinkler pipe burst by holes of which runs out of water. This pipe is enlightened so that under certain angles, the spectator sees a Arc-en-ciel.
Its work explores the relation existing between nature and technology, like when elements such as the temperature, the olfactive one or the air is converted partly into sculptural elements and of artistic concepts.
The May 16th 2007, it receives the Prix Joan Miró, organized jointly by the Fondation Joan Miró of Barcelona and the Fondation Caixa Girona. An equipment of 70.000 € was given to the artist at the same time as a trophy drawn by André Ricard. The Foundation Joan Miró and the Arts center Caixa Girona will accommodate, in June 2008, an exposure of the artist especially created for these two places.
