Óbuda (old man-Buda) is a district (IIIe district) of Budapest, the capital of the Hungary. Óbuda was an independent commune until January 1st 1873, date on which it was joined together with Buda and with Pest to form Budapest.

History

The first traces of occupation of the site go back to the Stone Age. The Romans found at this place the town of Aquincum , capital of the Pannonia, area already famous for its thermal springs and its baths. The Magyars occupy towards 900 the Plaine of Pannonia and found there an important colony, named later by the king Béla IV capital of Hungary.
