Ïambe
In poetry, the iambe , or rather ïambe , (of the Greek ἴαμϐος ḯambos ), is a foot composed of a short Syllabe followed of long: in Scansion, it is thus noted U -.
It finds its origin in ancient Greek poetry, where it is the basic foot of the iambic Trimètre: it towards, composed of three pairs of iambes, is often employed in the dialogs of the tragedies and the comedies. In Latin poetry, the worms corresponding is the iambic Sénaire.
