Commune located in the Norman Vexin at approximately 18km of the Andelys
History
Vacation resort of the king Dagobert. Its name comes from low-Latin Sterpinacum (" cover of racines"). The city gave to the painting LOUIS ANQUETIN, which always rests there, painter expressionnist friends of Maurice DENIS, whose works appear in the principal museums of the world (London ST Peterbourg, NR York)
Roman occupation. Vacation resort of king Dagobert, set up in fortress at the time ducal, Etrépagny was at the 16th century the property of Marie de Bourbon, duchess of Longueville and the Turgot family at the 18th century.
The borough was devastated by a Prussian column during the Guerre of 1870.
