Épreinte (medicine)

In the medical field, a épreinte (resulting from Latin exprimere = to make leave while pressing) is an abdominal pain - of type Colique being accompanied by a painful and repetitive contraction - final part of the Côlon and Rectum being completed by a false pressing and pressing desire to go to the saddle.

She testifies to a pathology to the colon and rectum whose etiology can be:

infectious as in the inflammatory Dysentery
as in the hemorrhagic Rectocolite or the granulomateuse colitis (form colic of the Disease of Crohn)
tumoral as in the Adénocarcinome recto-sigmoïdien

The épreinte should not be confused with the Ténesme which is a painful tension, on the level of the anus with feeling of burn and constant desire to go to the saddle.
