Épiglotte
The épiglotte is a cartilagineuse structure connected to the Larynx which slides to the top when the air routes are opened, and helps to block the entry of the Trachée at the time of the Déglutition. It goes down slightly downwards, in order to come into contact with the larynx which rises, thus forming a bolt above the larynx.
It may be that times with other, when one eats too quickly, of liquid foods or solid introduced penetrate in the larynx before the épiglotte could not be folded back on this one. Such cases can prove very dangerous owing to the fact that the respiratory Tracts can stop and prevent the air from penetrating in the Poumon S.
When a person is unconscious, it loses its muscular tone; if it is dish-back, it may be that the firm épiglotte the air routes, the person is thus likely to die choked. Three techniques make it possible to cure that, they in common have the fact of mobilizing the chin in order to exert a traction on the muscles genio-hyoids, to open the épiglotte:
- the rise in the chin, by a careful rocker of the head (a hand on the face, the other under the chin draws it upwards);
- the Subluxation mandibulaire: one upwards raises the jaw by seizing it with two hands;
- the side Position of safety (PLS): the person is put on the side, and the head is put in rocker.
