Éparchie Saint-Saver of Montreal of Melkites
The éparchie Saint-Saver of Montreal is a catholic éparchie melkite which was set up canonically on September 1st 1984 by the pope Jean-Paul II. Its bishop is Mgr Ibrahim Michael Ibrahim. He sits at the Cathédrale Saint-Saver of Montreal. This éparchie, directly prone to the the Holy See, is of Rite melkite. There are 40.000 faithful melkites to Montreal, with the Canada.
Before rise with the éparchie, of 1980 to 1984 the territory melkite was called the apostolic Exarchat of Canada for the faithful ones of the Eastern rite melkite. The first bishop that the melkites had calls Michel Hakim, today with the retirement. Sleiman Hajjar was the bishop of 1998 with 2002, year when it is deceased in functions and moment when Mgr Ibrahim replaced it.
