History
In the course of time, one finds the name of Émerainville written in several ways different: Emeriacum , Hermery , Ermery , Hemery , Emerenville . The oldest acts go back at the 13th century, and more exactly to 1220.This name is of Germanic origin ( Haim rich ) and the word city was added only under the First Empire. Today, this old seigniory is called Emerainville, close to Paris.
The first castle of Hemery belonged to the 16th century with Christophe de Thou, prosecutor and adviser with the Parliament, friend of François d' Amboise, lawyer of the king.
The old church of Hemery was attached to the castle and depended on the church of Croissy. The current church of Émerainville was built only in 1896, but it contains inside an armchair having belonged to the sister of Louis XVI. This armchair had been offered to him by the countess Diane de Polignac, her first lady-in-waiting, which had repurchased the castle of Hemery, the grounds of Courcerin and the grounds of Malnoue.
