Éloi-Charlemagne Taupin (born with Barbery, the August 17th 1767, † Toulouse April 10th 1814), Major general and Baron d' Empire.

Biography

State of service

  • Of May 14th, 1787 until February 16th, 1791, it is useful in the Régiment of the King.
  • on September 18th, 1791, it returned like Sous-lieutenant in the 1st national battalion of the volunteers of Oise.
  • on January 31st, 1792, it is proclaimed Capitaine in the same body, by the choice of his/her comrades.
  • Of 1792 to 1795, Taupin is with the army of North.
  • It is named major to the seniority in this same body, is become 183e half-brigade and later the 28 {{E}} Régiment of Infantry of Line.
  • Of 1795 to 1797, it is with the army of the interior.
  • In 1798, it passes in the army of Helvétie.
  • the June 9th 1800, it brilliantly fights with the battle of Montebello where it is seriously wounded.
  • the September 15th 1802, it receives a saber of honor following this action, but it receives the patent only on January 24th, 1803.
  • Employed in Boulogne in 1802-1803, under the orders of the general Vandamme, it passes in 1803 to the army of Batavie.
  • on December 22nd, 1803, Taupin is named Major 11 {{E}} Régiment of Infantry of Line.
  • on June 14th, 1804, it is made officer of the Légion of honor.
  • on February 1st, 1805, it is named Colonel 103 {{E}} Régiment of Infantry of Line.
  • It is with the head of this body that it makes the campaigns of Austria, Prussia and Poland of 1805 to 1807.
  • the December 2nd 1805, to the Bataille of Austerlitz, it draws to him the attention of Napoleon, who makes it ordering Légion of honor on December 25th, 1805.
  • on February 21st, 1807, after Eylau, it is named Brigadier general.
  • In 1808, it passes to the army of Spain.
  • In 1809 it is employed with the army of Germany to take part in the countryside against the Austrians.
  • In 1810, it returns in the army of Spain.
  • on July 22nd, 1812, it takes part in the Bataille of Arapiles (also called Bataille of Salamanque) where it orders the 6 {{E}} Division.
  • on January 28th, 1813, it is named Major general.
  • on March 24th, it takes the command of the 4 {{E}} Division of Infantry of the army of Portugal ordered by the general Reille.
  • on June 21st, 1813, it takes part in the Bataille of Vitoria.
  • During the nomination of Soult in July 1813 with the army of the Pyrenees, it remains under the orders of the general Reille. It is illustrated at the time of the offensive towards Sorauren (July 28th, 1813) and at the time of the attack of October 1813 while defending " fears it; Baïonnette" in front of Ascain.
  • on December 10th 1813, Taupin is still illustrated with the combat of Bassussary where it forces the center combined to move back towards their cuttings off with Arcangues.
  • In 1814, it illustrates with the Combat of Orthez the February 27th.

Died of Éloi Charlemagne Taupin

Éloi Charlemagne Taupin is killed with the battles of Toulouse. He dies the April 10th 1814 at 11 o'clock in the morning. In the afternoon its body is deposited in the cathedral Saint-Etienne.
