Élizabeth Teissier , of its true name Germaine Hanselmann according to Le Monde , is a French astrologer born on January 6th, 1938 with Algiers.
It was made known while affirming to have advised several men of influences like François Mitterrand and the King d' Espagne. It was also the object of several controversies on astrology.
Of 1975 with 1980 it presents several emissions of astrology on Antenne 2 (today France 2) and of 1980 to 1983 on the German chain ARD.
In 2001, it obtains a Doctorat Sociologie which will make polemic.
The thesis was analyzed in detail by a group made up astrophysicists and astronomers (Jean-Claude Pecker, Jean Audouze, Denis Savoy), sociologists (Bernard Lahire, Philippe Cibois and Dominique Desjeux), of a philosopher (Jacques Bouveresse) and specialists in pseudo-sciences (Henri Broch and Jean-Paul Krivine). From this analysis, it comes out (extracted the analysis):
Once established the absence of sociology throughout the thesis which however claims to be attached to the one of the great sociological traditions (cf “It not thesis of sociology of Élizabeth Teissier”), the report/ratio of reading could be concluded on a judgment from dysfunction from the university procedures, not to say more. But the thesis places itself on a ground which escapes the sociologist completely. By his multiple references to celestial mechanisms and by the permanent claim of academic legitimacy and scientist of the astrological speech, the author of the thesis obliges the reader-sociologist to pass the relay to the physicists and to astrophysicists so that they come to a conclusion about the degree of serious references and scientific quotations used, as well as irrefutable arguments or the “evidence in favor of planetary influence” (cf “a not-thesis which hides a true thesis badly: an pro-astrological plea”). Lastly, because it is question of epistemology in the thesis, that the references to philosophers are multiple and that philosophy was represented in the Ph.D. examining board, it appeared logical to examine the thesis starting from a philosophical point of view (cf “conclusive philosophical Remarks”).
Having elected residence in Switzerland, Elizabeth Teissier caused a new polemic in 2007 while entrusting in a discussion with the daily newspaper the Morning (Geneva) published on September 2nd, 2007, that “in a birth chart, one can see whether there are predispositions for cancer, and the nature of cancer in question”. Generally she added “by analyzing the native sky somebody, one can draw the conclusions on her pathological predispositions” and that in any case “astrology forever killed anybody, contrary to medicine”.
The protocol thus concludes with the total absence from particular gift from Élizabeth Teissier.
