Éléonore de Habsbourg or of Austria , born with Leuwen the November 15th 1498, died with Talavera of Reina in February 1558 (13,18 or 25), was a infante of Spain, then queen of Portugal of 1518 with 1521, queen of France of 1530 with 1547, and duchess of Touraine of 1547 with 1558.

She was the oldest daughter of Philippe I {{er}} the Beautiful, archduke of Austria and duke of Burgundy, and Jeanne I {{Re}} Insane the, queen of Castille. She was the sister of Charles Quint, of Ferdinand I {{er}}, of Elisabeth queen of the Denmark, of Marie queen of Hungary and Catherine queen of Portugal.

The projects of marriage with its intention were numerous, in order to satisfy the matrimonial policy of the Habsbourg, of the talks were successively undertaken to marry it with the kings of England Henri VII, then Henri VIII, the kings of France Louis XII or and the king of Poland Sigismond Ier.

At eighteen years, she wished to marry Frederic of Palatinat, but finally decided to marry the July 16th 1518 with Emmanuel Ier of Portugal, however ugly and disabled person. They had two children, infant it Carlos (who died when he was child, and who had been born the February 18th 1520) and the infante Maria (born the June 8th 1521, died in 1577, which was one of the richest princesses of Europe).

It became widowed the December 13rd 1521, when Emmanuel died of the Peste. Éléonore, little liked at the court, was made remove his/her daughter by her in-laws.

Some time after, by the treaty called the Peace of the Ladies , she marries the July 4th 1530 the king de France, widower of Claude of France, with which she will not have a child.

It was one second unhappy union, because her new husband prefers by far Anne to him de Pisseleu. Then rejecting its affection on her beautiful-children, it still runs up against a wall, those having been made captive of Charles Quint. Catholic, it is made an enemy news in his sister-in-law, Marguerite de France (1492-1549), this one Protestant and being very appreciated court. Like all the queens of France, it will not have any political power, however it was used as relation between the France and the Saint Worsens Germanic.

Again widowed the March 31st 1547, it must leave the court, which it makes with dignity and without regret. It takes refuge then in her sister, then follows it when it will see Charles Quint, withdrawn in the abbey of Yuste, in Estrémadure.

Éléonore from there then will visit his/her daughter with the Portugal but this one rejects it. Éléonore must be turned over some. She dies on the way of the return, of an asthma attack.
