Écovolontariat

The écovolontariat combines the country holidays, which makes it possible to benefit from the natural environments all while respecting them, and the support for research actions, protection and conservation directly on the ground. It can thus result in the assistance of the employees of a National park or the study of Cetacea in their natural environment into company of researchers.

The écovolontariat is thus kind of an ecological, responsible and interdependent voyage where the volunteers take part in building sites or programs for the Environnement, framed by professionals, at the same time as they benefit from surrounding nature (ex: wild landscape, observations of animals,…)

Generally, the écovolontariat is characterized by a help with the local organizations of protection of nature, in lack of means, and which thus do not require better than to receive some additional manpower, even an financial aid. During their stay, the écovolontaires support the researchers and the guards of nature in their work of safeguarding of the Biodiversité.

The building sites of écovolontariat offers a particular experiment. They allow:

  • to contribute directly to the protection of the species and their Environment;
  • to include/understand how research is carried out on the wild animals and the way in which they are protected;
  • to know the last discoveries of the researchers who frame them on the medium or the species observed;
  • to explore wild mediums, out of the beaten paths of the Tourism of mass;
  • to meet and live with the local populations.

The évolontariat does not require scientific competences in Biologie or ecology, even if there remains a privileged environment to be able to apply them. However, it requires to know to work in team, with people of origin and cultures different, speaking English (for the international one and sometimes France) and being in physical good condition.

Sample programs of écovolontariat

  • National park Bieszczady (Poland): to return in Upper San To rivet and its valley their original natural state and to preserve the Corncrake in this area. The écovolontaire is then implied in the usual work of the researchers of the national park;
  • Croisères of study of the Cetacea: in the sanctuary of the marine mammals of the Mediterranean, the écovolontaire studies, on board a sailing ship, the Cetacea with research team.
