Écouen
Écouen is a city of the Val-d'Oise in Île-de-France of approximately 7300 inhabitants (2004), located at approximately 19 kilometers in the north of Paris and at 15 kilometers of the Aéroport Roissy-Charles-of-Gaulle.
Its inhabitants is called Écouennais (be).
Geography
Écouen is located on the septentrional side of a Butte-témoin crowned by the Forêt of Écouen and dominating the flat of France, with 19 kilometers in the north of Paris.

History
The name comes from the anthroponyme Gallic Scotus and the Gallic magos , gone.
The hill of Écouen is a pilot hillock dominating the flat of France. Placed between the synclinal one of Saint-Denis and the anticline of Country of Bray, it prolongs in south-east the Vallée of Montmorency of which it is separated by the valley from the Petit Rosne.
Écouen is the cradle of the famous family of the Bouchard of Montmorency, which was to have a keep there as of the first centuries of our era.
In 632: " The good king Dagobert made present ground and seigniory of Écouen at the basilica of Saint-Denis. This village offered is named then: Iticiniscoam. It joined together current Écouen and Ézanville. " Iticin" is translated into Latin by " ville" , which gave Ézanville. " Iticiniscoam" contracted in " Iscoam" what gave Écouen."

Napoleon {{Romanian|I|1}} {{er}} installed there the Maison of education of the girls of the Legion of honor which remained there until 1962.

Écouen is served by the station of Écouen - Ézanville, on the network Transilien Paris-North, branches Paris-North - Persan-Beaumont/Luzarches. The station is served at a rate of a slow train to the 1/4 of hour in off-peak hours and at the same frequency in rush hours, the trains being on the other hand direct of Paris with Sarcelles - Saint-Brice. The service road is reduced to a slow train to the 1/2 hour in evening (after 20:30). It is necessary from 16 to 22 mn of way starting from the station of North.It is also served by the line of bus the RATP 269, connecting the station of Garges - Sarcelles to the town hall of Attainville.
Tourist monuments and places
The city has a castle 16th century, where was installed the national Musée of the Renaissance, on the initiative of president Giscard d'Estaing.The castle belonged to the Duc Anne de Montmorency under François I {{er}} and Henri II.
