Écosphère

General standard

The écosphère indicates a natural Système in which several levels interact the ones with the others: matter, energy and living beings. The term was created by the American ecologist Lamont Cole.

According to Robert Barbault, some ecologist S would prefer to use the term of écosphère rather than that of Biosphère. In this case, the écosphère would indicate the unit formed by the biosphere, its geological and pedological substrate (the Lithosphère) and the atmosphere.

In astronomy, the écosphère is the zone surrounding a star, in which the temperature allows the presence of water in liquid form. This zone with the shape of a hollow shell. In the case of the solar system, the Earth is located in this zone.
