Écoprovince

The écoprovince corresponds to a zone of biogeographic distribution broader than a écorégion and smaller than a écozone.

The European Agence for the environment uses to indicate a écoprovince the biogeographic terminology of Région and indexed 11 of them:

  •                 the artic region
  •                 the boreal area
  •                 the Atlantic area
  •                 the continental area
  •                 the alpine area (more generally of mountain)
  •                 the area pannonienne
  •                 the Mediterranean region
  •                 the area macaronésienne
  •                 the steppe area
  •                 the area of the littorals of the Black Sea
  •                 the Anatolian area
