Écomusée of the Large Moor
The écomusée of the Large Moor , located at Sabers in the Moors, is a creation of the Regional natural park of the Moors of Gascogne of which it is constitutive. He testifies to the agro-pastoral system and the life in the Grande Moor at the 19th century.
Presentation
In the middle of the XIXe century, the shepherds landais kept their herds top of their stilts on the vast ones extended from Lande S. On their course, they met the first pines of a forest which was going to become, time of a generation and with the favor of the Loi of June 19th, 1857, vastest of Europe. This transformation upset the economy of the country deeply.The écomusée of Large the Moors constitutes a single unit to discover this disappeared company:

with Marquèze: the apogee of the agro-pastoral company before the creation of the Forest of the Moors under Napoleon III.
- with Luxey: the workshop of the resinous products exposes the richness of the “gold tree” thanks to the Gemmage and the industrial exploitation of the resin (1850-1950).
- with Moustey: the museum of the religious heritage and the popular beliefs (Notre-Dame church) presents traditional expositions with the superstitions and pilgrimages in the Large Moor.
