Écommoy

Écommoy is a common French, located in the department of the the Sarthe and the area Pays of the Loire.

Its inhabitants is called Ecomméennes, Ecomméens.

Geography

Commune of the south of the Sarthe, located at 25 kilometers in the south of the downtown area of Mans, on the axis Mans - Turns. Ecommoy is located in an area named Belinois, between the mancelle agglomeration (Northern), the valley of the Dormouse (Southern), the valley of the Sarthe (Western) and the forest of Rocked (Is).

Ecommoy counts several industries and services: the industrial park of the exchanger, located at the junction enters A28 and N138, on the road of Turns, to the south of the city. This industrial park counts several companies: Jemini (manufacturer of toys), Belipa (construction of wood panels in agglomerate), CERGO (Boardings of Maine), Landrin motor bicycles… It is about a zone in construction related to the recent arrival of the highway. There exists also the retail park of the Sun, located road of Mans, in the north of Ecommoy. This zone counts three supermarkets of which a shopping mall. The downtown area is animated by banking agencies and insurances, mechanics (mainly along N138), the postal sorting office 72220 is located road of Saint-March of Equipped, at the northern entry of the city, JB Sol Transport is located road of Mayet.

(Mayet on March 8th, 1908 - Ecommoy 1991)

Colonial administrator in Black Africa, it right from the start joined the rows of the 2nd dB of the Leclerc general, which is worth to him, in August 1944, to be first French to be penetrated in released Paris. Companion of the Release, it undertook after the war a political career and represented several times the south of the Sarthe to the National Assembly.

Tourist monuments and places

Church Martin Saint (built as from 1840), located at the downtown area. A place at summer arranged in front of the church so that the exit of the church does not give directly any more on the carpark but on a place pedestrian.

the alley of Fontenailles, alley creates at the time of Louis XIV by the gardener of the king. It is around this alley that the majority of the municipal equipment were built: Nursery school and College, Basketball courts, Football, Public swimming pool…

Revolving Stones (visible in the moors of the Rhone). The legend of the Revolving Stones goes back to the Middle Ages, it tells that at the fallen night, the megaliths (they make approximately 10 to 15 tons each one) are raised and turn in the airs. The Legend also told that it stopped an important water reserve which, if they were removed, would submerge the town of Ecommoy. These Stones were moved at the time of the building site of the highway A28 and replaced in a site arranged for the tourists and walkers.
