Águas de Chapecó
Águas de Chapecó is a city Brésil ienne west of the State of Santa Catarina.
Geography
Águas de Chapecó is located by a Latitude of 27º 04 ' 13" south and by a Longitude of 52º 59 ' 12" west, with a Altitude of 291 meters.Its population was of: 6086 inhabitants with the census of 2007. The municipality extends on 139 km ².
The city is to 665 km in the west of the capital of the State, Florianópolis. It belongs to the Microrégion de Chapecó, in the mésorégion Western of Santa Catarina.
The local climate is wet with an annual average temperature of 20°C.
Its IDH was of 0,781 in 2000 (UNDP).
History
In 1896, Felipe Schell Loureiro, topographer and person in charge of the land register of the extreme west of Santa Catarina and Paraná, discovers a source mineral Water on the territory of the current municipality of Águas de Chapecó.Colonization starts in 1915 with the arrival of the first colonists, mainly of origin Italy. On these fertile grounds, they cultivate the Maïs, the Haricot and the Blé and exploit the wood resources of the area, which they export by Rios Chapecó and Uruguai.
Years 1930 to approximately 1960, the thermal spring allows a relative tourist development of the area. Its attractivity declines following a destruction by the risings and with the disinterest of its owners.
Until 1955, the locality was known under the name of Vila Aurora . In 1955, it becomes a district of Chapecó, under the name of Águas de Chapecó (of águas , “water” for the local medicinal springs and Chapecó according to the name of the main city of the area and that of the Rivière on banks of which it is).
It becomes a municipality with whole share on December 14th 1962, by dismemberment of Chapecó.
As from the years 1980, new thermal infrastructures are built and the city starts again to accommodate curists and tourists.
Economy
The economy of the municipality is centered on the Agriculture and the Tourisme.Many rural small-scale farmings cultivate the Maïs, the Soja, the Haricot and the Tabac and raise Bovin S.
Tourism
The “mineral-water company of the west of Santa Catarina” ( Companhia Hidromineral C Oeste Catarinense or “Portuguese Hidroeste”), fed out of mineral water with 37°C by a Artesian Puit is the principal attraction of the municipality. This water is recommended, enter others, for the treatment of the Rhumatisme S, the Ulcère S and renal calculi. A thermal complex accommodates the many tourists on banks of the Rio Chapecó.The city also counts several Cascade S, located in the middle of the native forest, on the rivers Chapecó and Uruguai.
Culture
Throughout the year, the city accommodates several events, among which:- the regional of Águas de Chapecó, famous Carnival in all the area;
- the bucket C chopp , traditional Ball animated by folk groups Germanic S, first Saturday of January;
- the week of the municipality, festivities around the commemoration of the birthday of the emancipation of the municipality, on December 14th.
