Áed Find
Áeda Find or Aeda Find mac Echaid king of the Scots of Dalriada of 748 with 778
The genealogical list of the kings of Dalriada gives like father to Áed Find ( the Beautiful ), Domangairt m Domnaill Bricc , killed in 673, which is chronologically impossible. Áed was to be more probably its back grandson and the son of Eochaid mac Echdach " Angbhaid" , king of Dalriada between 726 and its death in 733.
In this context Áed Find was still to be very young person during the takeover of the Dalriada by the king Picte Oengus Ier during the years (736 - 741). It seems that he made profitable the difficulties of this last in particular with the Breton ones of the Royaume of Strathclyde to restore the capacity of Cenél Gabráin on the Dalriada towards 750.
The Duan Albanach allots reign a 30 years to him and Áodh ArdFhlaith calls it ( Áed the High Sovereign ).
The Annales of Ulster mention with the year 768 a battle in Foirtriu between Áed and the Pictes of the king Ciniod mac Uuredech. The death of the king in 778 is also raised by Annals Irish.
Áed Find will leave for the posterity the reputation of a legislator. Its distance successor the king Scot of the Pictes Donald mac Alpin died in 862 is known " Picte" chronicle; to have " established at Gaëls the rights and laws of the kingdom of Aed mac Ecdach " , without we knowing exactly of what that consisted.
Áed Find had like successor his younger brother Fergus mac Echdach.
